International Women's Day: Celebrating inspirational women all over the globe

Starting in 1911, during a time of cultural and industrial change where equality was significantly different from today, International Women’s Day has become an important day for women all over the world who want to get their voices heard. Starting with a march in New York City for greater women’s rights, these have become tradition, and many are taking place today, with tens of thousands of people coming together on bridges all over the world, from London to Rwanda, thanks to the organisation Join Women on the Bridge.

An incredible one hundred years on, International Women’s Day has become a day of celebration for many, with activities aimed at connecting women occurring throughout the day, ranging from business conferences to art workshops; in some countries, it is even considered an official holiday.

We’re proud to see so many users already posting their videos in recognition of what is inspiring about IWD. We found this broadcast: http://bambuser.com/channel/waelabbas/broadcast/1480358 during the #Egypt Demonstrations to be particularly awe inspiring.

Let us know about your event, or the women who have influenced you by getting in touch with us on twitter: @Bambuser, or by hash tagging your live streams #IWD.
